Items you will need:
- cake covered in yellow fondant
- 2 green fondant
- 1 black fondant
- 1 orange fondant
- 1 white fondant
- popsicle stick
- cutting tool
- 8 thick toothpicks
Use the side of the popsicle stick to gently imprint diagonal lines on the side of the cake. Leave about one inch between each line.
Turning your popsicle stick in the opposite direction, repeat this method to form diamonds along the side of the cake.
Combine the two pouches of green fondant and roll them out keeping the fondant on the thicker side (about a quarter of an inch).
Use your cutting tool to cut the shape of the leaves and repeat this step until you have made eight leaves.
Use the cutting tool again to cut small slanted indentations into the sides of the leaves to give them some texture.
Insert the thick toothpicks into the leaves for support, leaving half of the toothpick exposed. Arrange the leaves how you would like them displayed, then insert them into the top of the cake.
Use your hands to roll out one small ball of black fondant and then slightly flatten it out to form the circle for the eye.
Use your hands to roll a small ball of black fondant into a short rope and then taper both ends. Attach to the cake in a curved shape to form the wink.
Use your hand to roll a small ball of black fondant into a short rope and attach to the cake in a ‘U’ shape to form the mouth.
Using your hands, roll a very tiny amount of white fondant into a small ball to form the eye twinkle.
Use your hands to roll two small balls of orange fondant into ovals to form the cheeks.
