Items you will need:
- cake covered in light blue fondant
- 2 brown fondant
- 1 white fondant
- 1 black fondant
- 1 light blue fondant
- pizza cutter
- ruler
- small toothpick
- thick toothpick
Step 1
Combine the two brown fondant packets into one large ball and roll it out with the rolling pin.
Step 2
Using the pizza cutter, cut long rectangles to form the slats of wood that will attach around the side of the cake. Use the width of the ruler as a guide for your slats.
Step 3
Before you attach the slats, use the small toothpick to gently indent wood groves into each piece.
Step 4
Apply a little bit of water around the sides of the cake, and attach the slats.
Step 5
Open the white fondant and set aside a dime sized piece of fondant.
Step 6
Mix together the remaining white fondant and a dime sized piece of black fondant to form a light grey.
Step 7
From this point, you will be doing your best to sculpt the elephant. Start by rolling out the grey and cutting the ear shapes. Then work on the face by rolling a piece of grey fondant into a ball and gently pulling a long nose. Lay down the ear and place the face on top. Use a toothpick to hold up the nose and leave a section exposed to attach the water splash. Sculpt the belly, arms and legs and use the thick toothpick to indent the toe nails and belly button. Finally, add on the eyes and eyebrows.
Step 8
Use your hands to roll small pieces of blue fondant into shorter ropes. Taper the ends and arrange around the elephant to form the water ripples.
Step 9
Sculpt the splash of water and attach to the toothpick.
