Items you will need:
- cake covered in light blue fondant
- 1/2 green fondant
- 1 orange fondant
- 1 pink fondant
- 1 purple fondant
- 2 white fondant
- 1 white buttercream
- 1 graham cracker crumbs
- 1 blue sanded surgar
- under the sea mold
- circle cutter
- cutting tool
- popsicle stick
- q-tip
- water
Step 1
Use the popsicle stick to spread a thin layer of white buttercream on the top of the cake.
Step 2
Gently pour the graham cracker crumbs around the top edge of the cake, creating a border. Fill in the top center of the cake with the blue sanding sugar.
Step 3
Split the white fondant in half. Mix one half of the white fondant packet with the pink packet. Mix the other half of the white fondant packet with the purple packet.
Step 4
Thinly roll out the pink, purple, orange, and remaining white fondant. Use your circle cutter to create as many circles as possible from each color.
Step 5
Use your Q-tip to lightly spread water along the side of the cake. Starting at the base of the cake, start layering the circles, alternating each color. Work your way up the cake.
Step 6
Roll out your green fondant. Use the cutting tool to cut strips in differing lengths, and about 1/2 inch wide. Cut a slant at the top of each strip. Twist each strip and attach to the side of the cake using water.
Step 7
Use the under the sea mold to make the mermaid tail using the remaining green fondant. Add the mermaid tail in the center of the cake. Use the remaining buttercream you have to help stick the shells and starfish around the cake.
